According to legend:
There is an interesting legend about the coffee tree as follows. A shepherd named Kaldi, once taking his sheep out to eat, observed that the sheep eating a strange red fruit suddenly jumped unusually happily. He tasted this strange fruit and suddenly felt extremely refreshed and full of energy. Then he informed the monks. At first they thought it was a forbidden fruit brought by the devil and decided to burn this seed. However, the scent emitted from the strange seeds when burned makes them want to taste it. Indeed, their spirits were unusually refreshing. They decided to turn it into a drink before each ceremony.
Actually:
However that is just a legend. Actually, the coffee plant originated in Ethiopia (formerly known as Kaffa). It was the slaves captured from Ethiopia to Egypt who brought this fruit with them. After that, they quickly became a very popular drink among Egyptians.
By the 18th century, the first Dutch brought coffee outside of Egypt and planted it in Martinique. Later, the French and Brazilians also brought this fruit to their homeland. That is the premise for coffee to be grown all over the world today.
